Fender Squier Affrinity Strat Reviews 4

I got the strat of a mate for £60, quite a bargain I'd say. It was my first guitar so i just wanted something to learn on, bash around a bit with, and crank up like a looney in my room.

At first i must admit i was a bit of a geek about the fact that I had a squier. Over time, however, the guitar began to suprise me. You really can get SUCH a decent lead tone out of it, while switching the coils can give a high resonance deep sounding rythm tone. All with its original pickups!

I probably wouldnt gig with it. The tuners are not amazing, and there is a bit of a buzz on a couple of the coil selections ( though i think thats my fault). Otherwise i love it, its versatie, playable, light, friendly, and very cheap!.

It's a squier. The hardware throughout is therefore not fantastic quality, but its very solid. It's getting on in years and doing very very well, having seen many incidents and bruises, but consistently it comes through strong.

This coming summer i'm hoping to upgrade to a mexican tele. I do think that i'll keep the strat though for the simple reason that i love the thing. Its a pleasure to own and play. Of course its not your one-and-a-half-grand-Gibson-Les-Paul, but who ever said it needed to be? I wouldnt buy another one cos i already have one, but with the benefit of hindsight i would have paid more than £60 for it. Up to about £200 new I'd say. I'll give it a 4 simply because its not designed to be 'the proffesionals choice'. If i was going to rate it by the price, it would have an 8
